Julia Checchia is a highly qualified project management consultant and facilitator with many years of experience across numerous countries.  She works for Hitachi Data Systems as a Project Management Office Director and lectures at Curtin University, Sydney. Her work encompasses:

  • Design and delivery of project management training programs
  • Project and Program management delivery consultation, coaching and advice
  • Development and leadership of project management offices

Julia is a very diligent and experienced project manager as well as being a passionate trainer and speaker.  Her vast experience spans many different industries including finance, IT, construction and education.  The companies Julia has consulted with while working previously for IBM include Qantas, MGIC, Arnotts, AGL, Vodafone, Telstra and others.   She is currently the President of the Board of the Project Management Institute Sydney Chapter and a member of the Board since 2006. As the president she led the chapter to win the PMI Global Chapter of the Year award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She has also led the team to be a finalist of the NSW Volunteering award for the work the chapter does for Sydney Community. 

Julia has a Bachelor of Science, a Master in Computer Science and a Master in Business Administration awarded by University of Technology Sydney.  In 2004 she became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and member of the Project Management Institute.  She is a PRINCE2 Practitioner, ITIL V3 Foundation and MSP Foundation certified. Julia delivered key note project management conferences in Indonesia, presented in PM conferences in New Zealand and Australia, presented in technical conferences and was the MC for the Singapore Symposium in 2012. 

Julia is passionate to spread project management as a life skill and as such she works with several not-for-profit organisations focusing on improving their project delivery capability and attainment to their strategy and mission. Julia has the ability to connect people and organisations to leverage knowledge, interests to grow businesses as well as enhance brands.
